• MENA Chamber: Legal & Operating Fund To Challenge Unfair Municipal Practices

  Join the MENA American Chamber of Commerce as we establish a Legal and Operating Fund to help protect Independent Operators and Fuel Suppliers in Michigan. This vital initiative aims to insulate and empower local businesses by providing resources to offset legal fees and operational expenses associated with navigating regulatory challenges and preserving fair market practices.

  Through our advocacy, we will address the pervasive influx of Sheetz gas stations across Michigan, with up to 60 new locations planned statewide, predominantly in the tri-county area, and mitigate the anticipated detrimental impact of large corporate-backed gas station chains on Michigan’s economy and the local business ecosystem.

  The MENA Chamber, representing hundreds of local business owners, is calling for an independent review of Sheetz’s expansion efforts in light of concerns regarding anti-competitive practices, environmental risks, and impacts on local supply chains.

  Your participation will directly impact our ability to provide the resources and advocacy needed to safeguard local businesses against unfair practices. A group effort is critical for this initiative to succeed - all independent operators and fuel suppliers will be impacted by the entry of corporate-backed gas station chains which are eyeing the midwestern market for their expansion efforts. For that reason, we encourage all gas station owners and fuel suppliers to participate in this initiative.

  Once the legal fund is established, a press conference is scheduled to be held the first week of December to litigate the first case involving discriminatory practices and preferential treatment that was observed at multiple municipalities.
